Background and Objective: The aim of this report is to present a child who presented with critical Influenza B pneumonia which mimic covid-19 pneumonia with Hepatitis. Even though patients with critical influenza can have extra-pulmonary complications like myocarditis and encephalitis, hepatic complications is very rare.
Case Report: A 6-year-old girl presented with fever and cough since 6 days, and tiredness since 4 days. On examination she was tachypnea with RR of 52/minute and Oxygen saturation at room air 88%.Her chest-ray showed consolidation which worsened on 6th day. The predominant CT findings were mixed ground glass opacities and consolidation involving both lungs. She was ventilated with non-invasive ventilation followed by HFNC. She recovered and discharged after 12 day.
Conclusion: The influenza B virus was considered to be less virulent than the influenza A virus. This case report emphasizes the importance of Influenza B critical pneumonia which can mimic COVID pneumonia and also hepatitis as a rare complication.
